Welcome to DAY 1 of #AAJA21! To convention first-timers and returners, #AAJAFamily newcomers and veterans alike—we’re so excited to kick things off with all of you here to bear witness.

YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS: A needed discussion on the roles of race and activism in journalism during our Opening Ceremony; an exclusive screening of Justin Chon’s Blue Bayou; mixers for our AAJA JCamp and Voices communities. Fill up your agenda, snap a pic in our virtual photo booth and get settled in for a week of outstanding panels, conversations and new memories.

 

Tuesday at #AAJA21 (all times in E.T.)

Start the day by scheduling a time with recruiters in our "Expo Hall" from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

1 - 4:30 p.m. 

1 - 2:30 p.m.

1 - 3 p.m.

3 - 4:30 p.m.

After a quick break, join us at AAJA Orientation from 5 - 5:30 p.m. Then we’ll head into our Opening Ceremony: Proudly Looking Back— A Conversation on AAPI Journalists from 1981-Today from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. 

7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Then, attend a mixer and greet your #AAJAFamily (or meet new people!):

Close out the day by attending our screening of "Blue Bayou” by Justin Chon from 8:30 - 10:30 p.m.

AAJA Convention Resume Bank: Looking for a Job? How About A Vacation? 

AAJA is excited to announce that for #AAJA21 convention participants who put their resume in AAJA’s Resume Bank via AAJACareers.org, we will be raffling off a two-night stay in a suite at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas with a $350 gift card to Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen Restaurant to a lucky qualified participant at #AAJA21 (retail value estimated at $750).  One lucky participant will receive this amazing offer just for attending #AAJA21 and submitting their resume to the resume bank.

 

To qualify, participants must create a profile at aajacareers.org, upload their resume and select to have that resume be available for recruiters to access by selecting that they will be at the AAJA Convention.  Participants must also be registered for #AAJA21.

 

#AAJA21 Reminders and Deadlines

  • Elections—Voting has begun! Watch a recording of AAJA HQ’s candidate forum, which took place Sunday, August 15.
    • Wednesday, August 25 – Voter eligibility deadline (must activate or renew membership by this date), 8 p.m. ET
    • Sunday, August 29 – Accept ballots until/voting ends, 8 p.m. ET
    • Tuesday, September 7 – Results announced
  • On a rolling basis until #AAJA21: CNN Workshop applications (Writers, Producers)
  • On a rolling basis until #AAJA21: ABC Storytelling Summit applications (Apply Here)

#AAJA21 is hosted on Cadence. Learn how to use it to best enhance your #AAJA21 experience with these tutorials. If you have registered for #AAJA21, you should have received an email inviting you to Cadence. If you don't see it in your inbox, please check your spam folder.
