From AAJA-HQ: Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month with Journalism Excellence Awards, original research previews

AAPI Heritage Month Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! To celebrate, AAJA is announcing our 2024 Journalism Excellence Award and Community Award recipients throughout the month. In addition, we previewed our new data on AAPIs as audiences, consumers and voters in a key election years, and obstacles to building newsrooms that reflect a diverse nation.

Statement AAJA joined other journalism organizations and signed on to the Society of Professional Journalists’ statement, calling on Texas law enforcement to drop criminal charges against photojournalist Carlos Sanchez, honor the first amendment right to a free press and allow journalists to cover protestsRead the full statement here.

AAJA's Research Roundtable AAJA hosted a Research Roundtable that previewed two new research reports produced by the Asian American Journalists Association and its partners. These reports offer detailed insights into the changing trends in news consumption among communities of color, as well as the systemic barriers confronting journalists of color.
